For many small and medium-sized manufacturers, welding automation comes with familiar challenges: fluctuating batch sizes, a shortage of skilled welders, and the need for fast payback. The ASK-100-CB cobot-assisted welding cell, developed by Akon Robotics, was designed specifically to address these realities.
By combining a JAKA collaborative robot with a Kemppi welding system, the ASK-100-CB offers a compact, mobile, and ready-to-use welding cell that enables companies to automate welding processes with minimal complexity and rapid return on investment.
Built for Flexible, High-Mix Welding Applications
At Akon Robotics, JAKA cobots are deployed in applications where flexibility, safety, and rapid ROI are the primary decision factors. The ASK-100-CB reflects this approach, targeting welding tasks with high product variance and small batch sizes.
Programming is handled via drag-and-drop using JAKA+, with additional hand-guided teach-in for quick path definition. This allows operators to adapt the system quickly to changing components, without lengthy reprogramming or specialized robotics expertise. Control can be accessed via PC, tablet, or smartphone, supporting flexible use on the shop floor.
“We use JAKA cobots where flexibility and fast ROI are critical. In the ASK-100-CB, this enables a welding solution that adapts easily to changing components while remaining simple and safe to operate.”

Smart Cell Design for Safe and Efficient Operation
The ASK-100-CB welding cell integrates a 180° rotary table, enabling parallel loading and unloading while welding is in progress. This design significantly increases utilization and reduces idle time — a key factor in achieving fast payback, especially in low-volume production.
A protective safety enclosure with CE-compliant risk assessment ensures safe operation, while the mobile frame allows the cell to be repositioned easily within the workshop or deployed in different production areas. Connections for welding fume extraction further support a clean and ergonomic working environment.
Consistent Welding Quality with Proven Technology
For the welding process itself, Akon Robotics integrated a Kemppi welding power source and torch system, ensuring stable arcs and repeatable weld quality. Optional features such as automatic wire cutting and automatic torch cleaning help maintain consistent process conditions and reduce manual intervention.
As a result, weld quality becomes independent of operator experience or time of day, supporting reliable and predictable production outcomes.
Proven Results in Daily Production
Following the implementation of the ASK-100-CB, Akon Robotics’ customers consistently report measurable improvements in their welding operations.
These include reduced scrap and rework, higher and more stable productivity without the need for additional skilled labor, and improved ergonomic conditions for operators. Thanks to the modular Plug & Weld concept and short setup times, companies also benefit from rapid ROI and high system utilization, even as components and production volumes change.
A Fully Integrated Automation Approach
By delivering the ASK-100-CB as a fully integrated solution, Akon Robotics ensures that robot, peripherals, software, and safety concepts are perfectly aligned. This coordinated approach allows customers to focus on production results rather than system integration — a decisive advantage over standalone robots or loosely connected components.
With the ASK-100-CB, Akon Robotics and JAKA demonstrate how collaborative robotics can make welding automation practical, scalable, and economically viable for modern manufacturing environments.
