Company calls for a fact-based discussion of patent allegations and rejects misleading claims about its technology, safety and product quality. 

Fürth, Germany – 03.09.2026 – JAKA Robotics today announced that it has initiated legal action in response to the public allegations made by Teradyne Robotics regarding alleged patent infringement and further public statements concerning JAKA’s products and technology. 

With this step, JAKA is taking measures to protect its reputation, legitimate business interests and the trust of its customers, partners and system integrators. 

JAKA Robotics takes intellectual property rights seriously and respects fair competition. At the same time, the company believes that serious allegations of patent infringement must be addressed on the basis of verifiable facts and through the appropriate legal process - rather than through public claims that can create anti-competitive uncertainty in the market. 

JAKA takes legal action following public allegations 

JAKA's decision to initiate legal proceedings follows the public announcement by Teradyne Robotics concerning alleged patent infringement. 

As stated in JAKA’s initial statement on August 28, 2026, the company received no communication from Teradyne regarding the alleged patent infringement, either directly or through its legal representatives. JAKA had likewise not received any legal documents, court notification or other formal communication concerning the alleged proceedings. JAKA therefore became aware of the allegations solely through Teradyne Robotics’ public announcement on social media and subsequent media inquiries. 

JAKA has since continued to review the matter with its legal advisers and has now decided to take appropriate legal action to protect its reputation and legitimate business interests. 

The company is taking legal action seeking injunctive relief to protect its reputation and business interests and to seek an end to the continued public dissemination of statements that the company considers false, misleading and damaging. 

As of 02.09.2026, no court proceedings concerning the alleged patent infringement have been filed or opened against JAKA. JAKA’s legal advisers have verified the status of the matter through the relevant court system. This remains the case despite Teradyne Robotics having publicly announced last week that it had filed a lawsuit. 

JAKA rejects allegations of unlawful copying 

JAKA Robotics rejects any public characterization suggesting that the company has unlawfully copied Universal Robots' technology or products. 

JAKA develops and engineers its own products and technologies and has invested for many years in independent research and development. The company has established its own engineering, software and product-development capabilities and continues to develop its robotics portfolio for customers across Europe and other international markets. It currently holds more than 300 granted patents worldwide. 

Before entering the European market, JAKA commissioned two independent external Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) analyses. Neither analysis identified potential patent infringement relevant to JAKA’s activities on the market. 

The existence of a patent allegation does not establish that infringement has occurred. It appears to JAKA that Teradyne is deliberately seeking to create anti-competitive uncertainty among market participants in order to harm its competitors. JAKA is taking legal action to counter this. 

JAKA Rejects Unsubstantiated Claims Regarding Product Quality and Safety 

JAKA Robotics also rejects public statements by Teradyne Robotics that question the quality or safety of JAKA´s products without providing factual evidence to support such claims. 

Statements suggesting that JAKA products are of lower quality or that JAKA’s collaborative robots are less safe simply because of the company’s Chinese origin are misleading, unsubstantiated and damaging to JAKA’s reputation. 

Like other global robotics manufacturers, JAKA operates within an international supply chain and works with established suppliers while applying its own engineering, manufacturing and quality-control processes. 

Likewise, the safety of a collaborative robot must be assessed in the context of the complete application, including its design, integration, configuration, operating conditions and risk assessment. JAKA’s collaborative robots are designed to enable safe collaborative applications when properly integrated and operated in accordance with applicable safety requirements. 

JAKA considers the public dissemination of unsubstantiated and disparaging claims about a competitor’s products to be unacceptable business conduct. Such statements can create a misleading impression among customers, partners and the wider market and can unfairly damage a company’s reputation.
